Tenebrae - Palm Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
TENEBRAE, a Latin word meaning “darkness” is an ancient Christian Holy Week service dating back to the seventh century in which we accompany Jesus in His last hours. Tenebrae is characterized by readings, the gradual extinguishing of candles and the “strepitus,” meaning “great noise,” representing the earthquake and the confusion which accompanied Christ’s death and burial. As the church grows darker we begin our wait, in patient hope, for His Resurrection.
Come join us at St. Katherine of Siena, 9700 Frankford Ave, Phila., 19114, on April 2, 2023, at 7pm as we enter into Holy Week to walk solemnly with Christ to His Passion, Death and Glorious Resurrection.
