Our traditional Days of Grace during the Lenten Season will be preached this year by Dominican Friar Scott Steinkerchner, O.P. The weekend of February 24rd and 25th and continuing Monday and Tuesday evenings February 26th at 7:00 p.m. in Church.
and 27th . Father Scott’s present ministry is preaching on behalf of Food For the Poor. This ministry strives to link the Eucharistic presence of Jesus, the Bread of Life with our response to our less fortunate brothers and sisters, particularly those who are hungry or needy.
The themes for Father Scott’s three presentations are: “The Eucharist: Real food for a hungry world.” Forgive and you will be forgiven.” and “For they preach but they do not practice.”
At the conclusion of the evening presentations Father Scott will invite anyone who wishes to stay for a question and answer session.
These special Days of Grace are a wonderful way for families to join together in prayer during the Lenten Season and for our parish to grow in an appreciation for our Eucharistic Lord.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers and your kindness this week. Our Sisters in Philadelphia who were involved in the vehicle accident on Sunday have each given permission today for us to share her name with our friends of Nazareth.
We continue to ask for prayers for Sr. Boguslawa, Sr. Mary Anthony, Sr. Regina and Sr. John as they recover from their injuries.
As they convalesce, our injured Sisters have kindly asked for no visitors, please.
If you would like to send one or all of the Sisters a message, we have set up a special email address at PhiladelphiaSisters@nazarethcsfn.org. Please include the Sister’s name in the subject line. We will make sure she receives it.
If you would prefer to mail a card or letter, you may send it to:
Attn: Allison Taylor
Assistant Development Director
Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth
2755 Holme Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19152
Please indicate somewhere on the envelope which Sister should receive the message.
All of our Sisters express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, concern and support during this challenging time. We also ask for you to continue to respect our Sisters’ privacy as they heal.
Congratulations to the Reverend Paul Kennedy, Pastor of Saint Katherine of Siena Parish. On Tuesday, November 6, Archbishop Charles Chaput, OFM.Cap. announced that Pope Francis appointed nine Philadelphia priests as a "Chaplain to his holiness". Father Kennedy was among them. This means that Father Kennedy has been given the title of "Monsignor"
Pontifical honors for the nine Philadelphia priests will be awarded at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at a 4:00 p.m. Vespers Service.
The title of "monsignor" is given to priests who have demonstrated exceptional service to the Church. The honor is extra significant since Pope Francis announced in 2014 that the title would be given much more selectively. Parishioners of Saint Katherine of Siena Parish will be happy to know that this has no effect on his ministeral assignment as Pastor of Saint Katherine of Siena Parish.
